Meet Eleonore Dumas: Moving with Strength, Healing with Purpose
Pilates instructor. Former dancer. Warrior in motion.
Based in Astoria, NYC and Connecticut, Eleonore Dumas—known on Instagram as @eleonoredoespilates—is a powerhouse in the world of mindful movement. Specializing in beginner Pilates, injury recovery, and injury prevention, she helps her clients build lasting strength—starting from the inside out.
We sat down with Eleonore to dive into her fitness journey, the challenges she's faced, and the passion that drives her to empower others through movement.
“I’ve Always Been in Motion”
For Eleonore, movement isn’t just a routine—it’s rooted in her DNA.
“Growing up as a dancer and eventually going pro, movement was my entire world. But with dance comes injury. And I learned quickly that if I wanted to stay strong and prevent further damage, I had to start cross-training.”
That’s when she discovered Pilates, weight training, and the gym. What began as healing became her new calling—a path that centered around strength, longevity, and confidence beyond the stage.
On Finding Her Power—Through Others
These days, Eleonore finds purpose and empowerment in the success of her clients.
“I feel most empowered right after class, when I see the progress my clients are making. Watching someone do something they once thought was impossible is such a rewarding moment.”
Whether it’s a breakthrough in their form or a return to movement after injury, those small victories drive her to show up with energy and intention—every single class.
The Hardest Part of Her Journey
Injuries still play a role in Eleonore’s story.
“I’ve had to step away from dancing in many ways because of it, and most days, the pain is still there. But I’ve found that movement helps me heal—not just physically, but mentally.”
Movement is no longer just art or therapy. For her, it's medicine. A way of reclaiming joy and wholeness.
Her Inspiration? Realness Over Perfection.
Ask Eleonore who inspires her and the answer comes without hesitation:
“Miley Cyrus has been my idol since I was young. I admire how authentic she is. She shows up for her fans, is unapologetically herself, and proves that you can be wildly successful while staying grounded and kind.”
In a world that often edits and filters everything, Eleonore is drawn to women who show up real—flaws, strength, softness and all.
Her Go-To Fitness Advice
“One percent is always better than zero.”
Eleonore’s wisdom for those just starting out is simple and empowering:
“If your workout today is a walk around the block, that’s still progress. If you only have 20% energy, but give 100% of that—you’re doing amazing.”
There’s no need for perfection. Only presence. And showing up every day with what you have, as you are.
Self-Care Is Movement
For Eleonore, movement is balance.
“If I feel good, I work out. If I don’t feel good... I still work out—not out of obligation, but because I know it will make me feel better.”
It’s not something she forces; it’s something she trusts. A way to tune in, not check out. Her version of self-care is rooted in motion—and it leaves her stronger than when she started, inside and out.
What It Means to Be a Warrior Woman
“It’s not about being fierce all the time. It’s about knowing when to fight and when to rest.”
In a world that tries to box women in, Eleonore is redefining strength on her own terms:
“Being a warrior woman means showing up as your authentic self, knowing your worth, and refusing to shrink. You can be soft and powerful, tired and still strong.”
